Could there be a simpler way to improve education?
With so many accountability issues facing schools today, we often forget that the real key to student achievement -- not to mention our most important resource -- is the teacher.
Student outcomes do not improve by spending more dollars or by adding more bricks and mortar. Instead, teachers must be empowered to bring out the best in all students. Don Hutson's unique equine assisted professional development programs use live horses to demonstrate strategies teachers can use every day to help students reach their full potential.
The key is using simple, time-tested methods, setting expectations high, and truly believing that all students can learn. Designed for teachers, administrators, school board members, principals and parents, The Cowboy Solution challenges participants to re-examine their teaching philosophy and explore new and rewarding ways to partner with students. Specific strategies re-energize and re-focus teachers and help them help each student achieve.
Clinics are approved for three continuing education units by the Texas State Board for Educator Certification.
In these clinics, participants:
Experience a unique outdoor seminar using horses as a teaching tool.
Learn Five Keys to teaching success.
Understand why it is so important to communicate, manage, partner, and take control of every teaching relationship.
Observe methods that will “cause students to know.”
Learn how to accentuate the positive and ignore the negative.
Discover that accepting failure is never an option.
See demonstrations of clear, concise, and consistent communications and learn how to apply similar strategies in the classroom.
Explore ways to assess when a student is ready to go to the next level and what can happen when you "pass" a student on who is not ready.
Understand the link between teacher expectations and student achievement.
Recognize that "all" students -- no matter how difficult -- can learn.
As a result, participants return to the classroom equipped with:
A newly defined teaching philosophy based on positive outcomes and student success.
Strategies that turn that philosophy into reality.
